Dusty

OK so if any of you out there know my history...I'm a die hard till the end no matter what State I live in, I'm an LA Dodger's fan. But...my all time favorite player will always be Dusty Baker. As long as I can remember Dodger's ran through my blood. I can thank my Dad for this. My father was the Dodgers photographer for many years.

I grew up at Dodger Stadium. I was given so many wonderful memories there. In fact, growing up I actually thought everyone went to all home games, brought gum for the players, knew who Fred Claire was, and didn't know how important it was NOT to play with an autographed baseball in the front yard. Little did I know that I was one of few that got the privilege of doing so much.

Growing up at the Stadium I found one player I had an instant bond with. I don't know what it was, but he was my one and only player and I had to support him! His name was Dusty Baker.

Every home game we would go to I would have to stop and pick up Bubbalicious Bubble Yum Gum. I remember my mom taking me to the gas station on the way to the games and I would get the same gum in a brown paper bag every time. We would get to the stadium early and I would hand deliver Dusty his gum for the game. I remember hanging out before the games in the Dodger's dugout, sitting on Dusty's lap, hearing him talk and telling me he knew I would be watching him play.

Years have passed and contact has been lost. Tonight I gave Pat and Ryan their Easter Baskets...I know its not Easter. It's Easter Eve! Inside their Easter baskets were Hockey and Baseball cards. Inside Ryan's pack was a Dusty Baker Card!!!! Can you believe it! What are the chances of that!!! Ryan instantly gave me his baseball card, no questions asked. What a wonderful brother.
